Can rehab work for me? This question is best answered with three more questions.
Am I an addict? If you do not believe that you are addicted, you will not be able to commit to any system of rehabilitation. Any good program will be difficult and from your viewpoint, not worth the fight.
Do I want to be drug free for me ? If the goal is only to avoid punishment, get the girl, please a family member, keep the job, etc. Then probably not.
How much time am I willing I give to rehab? To be successful, rehab does not end with the amount of time dedicated to a certain retreat, facility, or formal program. True rehab is a lifetime decision. Since addiction is an illness that robs one of their own will, is part physical, and part psychological, the fight will last a lifetime.
A good rehabilitation program does not have to be the most expensive. Nor is there only one method that can work for an individual. There will be no ” quick fixes ” to the problem of addiction. A good treatment program will address the physical (chemical) needs, as well as the psychological, and for many, the spiritual needs of an individual.
My grandson will be going to rehab on Monday. Can you tell me about the program? Also, are there Doctors and other professionals working with the patients. Are there personal and group therapy classes and also educational programs about drugs and alcohol? My grandson is going to the Hawthorne facility. Do they stop the drugs with medical help? Anything you can tell me would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you from a Grandma who loves this young man.
