Eighty-four percent of cigarettes sold in the United States are so-called low-tar and low-nicotine, with many of them called “lights.” Many people falsely believe they’re healthier than other cigarettes. However the amount of carcinogens ingested is about the same. The problem that researchers are finding, is that people who switch to them are less likely to quit. This is true even for  those who switch specifically because they want to quit smoking.
